How we use cookies on neumar.app

Last updated:

This document is available in multiple languages. In case of any conflict between translations, the English version shall prevail.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites function properly, remember your preferences, and provide analytics about how the site is used.

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on the Neumar web application (neumar.app), why we use them, and how you can control them.

Note: This policy primarily applies to our web application. The Neumar desktop application uses local storage (SQLite databases and local files) rather than browser cookies. Local data storage by the desktop application is covered in our Privacy Policy.

2. Types of Cookies We Use

2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the operation of our Services and cannot be disabled. They include:

(a) Authentication cookies that keep you logged in. (b) Security cookies that protect against cross-site request forgery. (c) Session cookies that maintain your session state. (d) Language preference cookies that remember your selected language.

Legal basis: Legitimate interest / Contract performance.

2.2 Functional Cookies

These cookies enhance the functionality of our Services by remembering your preferences:

(a) Theme preferences (light/dark mode). (b) Dashboard layout and display preferences. (c) Recently accessed items and navigation history.

Legal basis: Consent.

2.3 Analytics Cookies

These cookies help us understand how our Services are used so we can improve them:

(a) Page views and navigation patterns. (b) Feature usage and engagement metrics. (c) Performance and error monitoring.

We use privacy-focused analytics that do not create individual user profiles. Analytics data is aggregated and anonymized.

Legal basis: Consent.

2.4 Marketing Cookies

We currently do not use marketing or advertising cookies. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy and request your consent before setting any marketing cookies.

3. Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies are set by third-party services we use:

(a) Authentication Providers: Cookies set by Supabase Auth for session management. (b) Payment Processing: Cookies set by our payment provider during checkout. (c) Analytics: Cookies set by our analytics provider for usage tracking (with your consent).

These third parties have their own cookie and privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.

4. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

You can manage your cookie preferences in several ways:

(a) Cookie Banner: When you first visit our website, you will see a cookie consent banner where you can accept or reject non-essential cookies. Both options are presented with equal prominence. (b) Cookie Settings: You can change your cookie preferences at any time through the cookie settings link in our website footer. (c) Browser Settings: You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking essential cookies may impair the functionality of our Services. (d) Do Not Track: We honor "Do Not Track" browser signals.

When you reject non-essential cookies, we ensure those cookies are not set and no tracking scripts are loaded.

5. Cookie Retention Periods

Cookie retention varies by type:

(a) Session Cookies: Deleted when you close your browser. (b) Authentication Cookies: Up to 30 days (or until you log out). (c) Language Preference: Up to 12 months. (d) Cookie Consent Record: Up to 12 months (after which we will ask for your preferences again). (e) Analytics Cookies: Up to 12 months.

6. Local Storage and Desktop Application

The Neumar desktop application does not use browser cookies. Instead, it stores data locally:

(a) SQLite Database: Application data stored in the Tauri application data directory. (b) Configuration Files: Settings and preferences stored in local configuration files. (c) Workspace Files: Files within your configured workspace directory.

This locally stored data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you use features that explicitly require cloud connectivity. You can delete local data by uninstalling the application or clearing the application data directory.

7. Consent Records

We maintain records of your cookie consent choices, including: (a) The date and time consent was given or withdrawn. (b) The categories of cookies accepted or rejected. (c) The version of the cookie banner presented.

These records are retained for up to 5 years to demonstrate compliance with applicable regulations.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for regulatory reasons. Material changes will be communicated through a new cookie consent prompt. The "Last updated" date indicates the most recent revision.
